"All I Need" by Radiohead

I’ve been listening to this some for a few weeks - a couple of days on repeat. It starts out with an intoxicating bass and ends in a climax of cluster chords; it’s very moving.

Many theories on the meaning and perspective of this song have been claimed: love, trapped love, old love, etc (most of which I found from one long thread at songmeanings.net).. but I want to make ‘me own little claim’ after much personal reflection on it - I would like to submit that the song is written from the perspective of a sperm.

THE SONG ALONE:

I am the next act waiting in the wings
I am an animal trapped in your hot car
I am all the days that you choose to ignore

You are all I need
You are all I need
I am in the middle of your picture
Lying in the reeds

I am a moth who just wants to share your light
I’m just an insect trying to get out of the night
I only stick with you because there are no others

You are all I need
You are all I need
I am in the middle of your picture
Lying in the reeds

It’s all wrong
It’s all right
It’s all right
It’s all wrong
It’s all right
It’s all right
It’s all right

THE SONG WITH MY INTERPRETATION:

I am the next act waiting in the wings (the next act, a baby to be?)

I am an animal trapped in your hot car (the groin is one of the hottest parts)

-—ALSO sounds like he could sing “hard cock” instead of “hot car”

I am all the days that you choose to ignore (a sperm would stay there if a man denied his need of release)

_______

You are all I need (a father? maybe that’s all a sperm knows)
You are all I need

I am in the middle of your picture (the focal point of most men, and physically in the center)

Lying in the reeds (pubic hair?)

_______

I am a moth who just wants to share your light (white like a sperm. the thing that carries on a man’s legacy)

I’m just an insect trying to get out of the night (insect like a sperm with the sole purpose to leave the body)

I only stick with you because there are no others (the existence of a sperm is contingent on it’s creator)

_______
You are all I need
You are all I need
I am in the middle of your picture
Lying in the reeds

_______

(the ending is a huge climax, almost overwhelming. These lyrics could deal with the pleasure and conflict of an orgasm, or if it were the sperm speaking, the unknown of leaving the body.)

It’s all wrong
It’s all right
It’s all right
It’s all wrong
It’s all right
It’s all right
It’s all right

…or I could just be way off. Here’s the video for some more clues.
